TOMS launches Eyewear!!

By Lorna
You know TOMS shoes right? They're the espadrille style shoes stocked in Office. When you buy one pair of TOMS, they also give one to a child in need. Shoes protect these kids from tons of diseases and such a simple idea is saving lives globally. Having reached the massive milestone of 1million pairs given out, TOMS have turned their attention to a new way of addressing a global need - EYEWEAR. TOMS is no longer a shoe company it is now a One for One company. You buy one pair of their sunglasses, someone in the world gets their sight back. Its as simple and effective as that. Truly an amazing example of corporate philanthropy! (I wish I had thought of it!) These 'Classics 101' are my fav...

If you want to read more about how this project came about here is Blake's (the genius behind TOMS) blog post explaining in his very own words... enjoy and feel inspired!

Super cute eco flats!

By Lorna

In true british style, all it took was a few unexpected days of BEAUTIFUL hot sunny weather for the whole nation to get their pasty legs out, flip-flops on and BBQs dusted off. I LOVE it! The British optimism about summer is so contagious - I can't wait to be shed of all the layers of winter and rock sum summery eco threads. I will be documenting all the essential S/S11 trends and my own summer-y purchases here so keep your eyes peeled. I started this weekend by getting re-acquainted with my summer wardrobe and my serious lack of summery shoes... check out these gorgeous African print ballet pumps for a great place to start!

Lalesso batik prints are made in Kenya under a fair scheme, supporting communities. At £30 a pop we think they are a great way to add some pattern to your wardrobe. You can find them in all sorts of colours and patterns here

Facts: Lalesso batik print shoes: supporting communities in Kenya, £30 a pair, available from Lalesso.

Depressing, eh!? well... it would be if you hadn't invested in the most BEAUTIFUL WINTER BOOTS you had ever seen! Think about it, even if you are sloshing through what feels like pavement tidal waves, just looking down at your new boots make you smile!! : ) This is the way I felt about a pair of boots I bought last year from eco shoe masters WHERE. Get soul with your soles!

by Naomi

If you're one of those that refuses to give up wearing summer shoes when Autumn arrives, then you will love TOMS shoes!

TOMS makes super funky espadrilles in all sorts of fabrics and patterns, and for every pair bought it gives a new pair of shoes to a child in need; one of the key causes of disease in developing countries is soil-transmitted disease which can be caught through bare feet, not to mention the risks of injury and infection from walking barefoot.

There are classic designs like these black TOMS (£32):

Or graphic neon numbers like these by artist Gabe Lacktman ($68):

Or my personal favourites, these amazing glitter designs!

Get creative with the white TOMS (£32) and paint them with your own design - you could even host a Style Your Sole party and get all your girls/boys creating their own unique TOMS!

Just check out these pair customised by Regan in Texas - beautiful!

There are organic cotton vegan styles, leather styles and they even do a range of boots (because there are some days when you really can't get away with wearing canvas shoes!)

TOMS is setting a trend across the globe having made an amazing achievement and just given away its millionth pair of shoes!

Buy them from TOMS US or TOMS UK.

Facts: TOMS shoes, one for one, canvas and cotton espasrilles, Style Your Sole parties.

WHERE oh WHERE...

by Naomi

I am always on the lookout for stylish eco & ethical footwear, as I find it one of the most difficult areas to be better at; vintage are usually too small and many modern brands are too expensive for my pocket. WHERE is one of few brands that I think offer something stylish and not too pricey (although still definitely a considered purchase!)

I love their A/W collection. The studded Tressa shoe is edgy yet versatile and the Omayda shoe looks like the perfect day shoe.

WHERE shoes and accessories are hand made by small producers and artisans across the globe. The brand pays workers a fair wage and says it does its best to make and package using natural and environmentally friendly materials.

They are currently offering a discount to its followers on Twitter so find them at www.twitter.com/WHEREitisAT

Get Ethletic with eco sneakers...

By Lorna

Now don’t get me wrong... I LOVE HEELS as much as the next eco goddess....but somedays (usually after a late night out dancing), my feet pure and simply just need a rest!

Luckily my toes can now find solace in this PERFECT pair of low cut ECO SNEAKERS...

ETHLETIC sneakers are made with Fair-trade certified and organic cotton. They also havefair trade rubber soles that carry the logo of the Forest Stewardship Council so that almost every material part of the sneakers is fair trade and ecologically certified.

A Fair Trade premium is paid to the rubber producers in Sri Lanka and the construction of ETHLETIC sneakers is covered by a fair trade project that supports workers and their families in Pakistan. The Fair Trade premium there helps pay for health insurance for the workers and a micro credit scheme.

Whether you are a self confessed sports nut planning your next marathon or your feet are just in need of some recovery time from your 6” heels, these uber comfortable eco trainers are a steal at £37.50!

Not only that but they come in black, black & white, dark navy, olive, orange, pretty pink, bright red, white..... (then there’s the high tops.....)
